What is a wave?
A wave is an oscillation or vibration that transfers energy but not matter.
A wave can also be an undulation (rising + falling) on the surface of water.
What are a few ways to describe a wave?
Crest / peak, trough,
Where is the crest on a wave
It is the highest point of the wave.
Where is the trough on a wave
It is the lowest point of the wave.
What is the amplitude?
The maximum displacement from a waves rest position to its highest / lowest position. (m)
What is the wavelength?
The maximum distance peak to peak or trough to trough. (m)
What is the frequency?
Number of waves passing a point per second. (Hz) (Hertz)
