The object of the game is to
complete a pass into the defensive teams’ end zone.
The game begins
with the choice of jerseys (and the ball) or to kick off (throw-off)
The kicking team throws the ball from behind their end line to the
receiving team. Once the ball is thrown then the defensive, or kicking team, may defend the offensive team to prevent them from scoring. The offensive team, or receiving team, makes a series of complete passes to get a ball over the goal line.
The ball may be thrown in any
direction by completing a pass to a teammate.
Players may not travel (walk) with the
ball after a catch but may establish a pivot foot so they can maneuver to throw the ball.
The thrower, or quarterback, has
ten seconds to throw the ball or he is called for stalling IF the defender guarding him counts loud.
The guard may not be any closer than
6 ft to the thrower and may not hit the ball from the thrower’s hand.
Defenders try to intercept or knock down passes so
that the offense turns the ball over and thus prevents them from scoring.
When a pass is not completed by offense, the defense immediately
takes possession and attempts to score.
Each time the offense completes a pass in the defenses end zone, the offense scores
1 point.
In co-ed games boy to boy score is good for
1 point; a girl to or from a boy is 2 points; and a girl to girl score is 3 points to encourage team involvement, fairness and strategy.
The defensive team then immediately takes possession after offense completes a pass and begins play as
the offensive team
Games are usually played with _ on the court at a time with _____
7; subs coming in during timeouts or after a score
Games may be played in
halves or with a running clock for specified amount of time.

Touchdown, unlike football, is a
non-contact game with no physical contact between players
Each person is their own
official and is responsible for making their own foul and line calls.
Players must resolve their own
disputes.
When a foul disrupts the possession, the play
resumes from that spot.
If a foul cannot be resolved
then the play is done over from the original spot.
Touchdown stresses
sportsmanship and fair play.
Competitive play is encouraged but never at the expense of
respect between players, adherence to the rules and the basic joy of play.
