Appendicular Skeleton
The segment of the skeleton that includes the limbs, shoulder girdle, and pelvic girdle.
Shoulder Girdle
Consists of the clavicle and scapula, connecting the upper limbs to the axial skeleton.
Clavicle
Also known as the collarbone; connects the shoulder to the sternum, with an acromial (lateral) end and sternal (medial) end.
Scapula
Also known as the shoulder blade; features include the acromion, coracoid process, and glenoid cavity.
Humerus
The bone of the upper arm, articulating at the shoulder with scapula and at the elbow with the radius and ulna.
Radius
One of the two bones of the forearm, located on the thumb side, with features like the radial tuberosity and neck.
Ulna
The other bone of the forearm, located on the side opposite the thumb, known for the olecranon and coronoid process.
Os Coxa
The hip bone, which is composed of the ilium, ischium, and pubis, and connects to the sacrum at the pelvis.
Patella
Also known as the kneecap; a sesamoid bone that protects the knee joint.
Tarsals
The group of seven bones in the ankle, including calcaneus, talus, navicular, cuboid, and three cuneiforms.
Phalanges
The bones of the fingers (14) and toes (14), consisting of distal, intermediate, and proximal segments.
Diarthrosis
A type of joint that is freely movable, such as the shoulder, knee, and hip joints.
Amphiarthrosis
A type of joint that is slightly movable, such as the pubic symphysis.
