ROM
A chip on the keyboard containing the information Windows needs to find the hardware connected to the computer and then the operating system so the computer can boot up

Start area
Now called pinned items and is at the top pane on the start menu with tiles for programs, settings, and file explorer
Allows you to pin anything you want
Task bar
The bar at the bottom of the screen that contains icon links to open programs with some tools

The landing page in file explorer (used to be quick access)
Helps you quickly access your frequently used files and folders (usually has frequent folders, recent files, and pinned items
File explorer
Can be opened by right click the start button to use object menu, use the folder icon on taskbar, type file explorer on the start menu, open with Win+E, or find it in the app list in start menu
Command bar
the menu bar with a few icons and the sort and view and overflow see more commands
Navigating
means to move around the drives and folders on a drive
Address bar
is between the navigation arrors and the search box and under the title bar
Navigation pane
A list of drives and folders on the computer which is on the left (find under view and show)
Contents pane
a list of folders and files in a location selected in the navigation pane which is on the right (can’t be turned off)
Details pane
a list of properties/details for an item selected in the contents pane; link on the right of the command bar
Preview pane
The first page in a document selected in the contents pane
Detail bar
contains the details buttons (header bottons) they are used to sort quickly by one detail with a left click

when dragging a file from one folder to another folder, what happens

When dragging a file from one drive to another drive

Make drag and drop create a shortcut

Consists of unpin/pin to the taskbar, close all open windows, open the program
Task list
This puts the thumbnails on top of other open full- screen windows on the screen - you can pick it by tabbing (ALT + Tab)
Task view
Puts all the open windows in tiles and takes up the whole monitor (WIN + tab) click on the window you want to choose

Works on all devices and supports touch, took out start menu and button, opened to start screen with search features.

Brought smart menu back and loads to the desktop, has universal apps, added task view and snap assist

File explorer now has a command bar, has snap layouts available to choose from, commands are on the context menus, taskbar is now in the bottom middle

toggles between minimizing all open windows and then restoring them, lets you move to the desktop

opens the quick link (context menu or right click menu) of the start button

Brings up the task list
Alt F4
Closes the windows / program / and will shut down the computer when all else is closed
