Evidence-Based Practice
A framework used to inform 'best practices' based on evidence from research.
Interventions
Manipulations involving subjects, tasks, or the environment designed to improve behavioral outcomes or physiological processes.
Research Design
The structure of a study, which determines the validity and reliability of findings based on the methods used.
Randomized Controlled Trials (RCTs)
Study designs that provide strong evidence through random allocation of subjects and suitable control interventions.
Quasi-Experimental Studies (QESs)
Studies that lack randomization and/or suitable control interventions, providing comparatively weaker evidence.
Observational Studies
Studies that provide negligible evidence by describing or comparing characteristics of populations.
Blinding
A method to conceal the identity and nature of interventions from subjects or investigators to reduce bias.
Eligibility Criteria
Standards that determine who can participate in a study, divided into inclusion and exclusion criteria.
Sample Size
The number of subjects examined in a study, crucial for ensuring appropriate power and validity of results.
Assessment Timepoints
Specific points at which measures are collected, including baseline and post-intervention assessments.
