Eyepiece

The lens closest to our eye when we look through the microscope; magnifies the image of the object.

Body tube (not in textbook)

Physically connects the eyepiece and the objective lenses, ensuring they are properly aligned and maintain a consistent distance.

Coarse adjustment knob

Used for making large adjustments in focusing.

Fine adjustment knob

Used for making small adjustments in focusing.

Arm

The part we use to carry the microscope from one place to another.

Objective

The lens nearest to the object, magnifies the image of the object.

Stage

The place where the object is held for viewing.

Clip

Holds the object (slide) on the stage.

Diaphragm

Adjusts the amount of light entering the microscope.

Mirror

Reflects light onto the object.

Base

The bottom stand of the microscope.
