Alliteration
The repetition of the same consonant sound at the beginning of words.
Imagery
The use of language to engage the senses, creating mental pictures or evoking smells.
Line and Stanza
Stanzas are groupings of lines in a poem, separated by blank lines like paragraphs in a formal text.
Metaphor
A figure of speech that implicitly compares two things, often by stating that one thing is another.
Narrator
The person telling the story.
Personification
A figure of speech that attributes human qualities to inanimate objects or abstract ideas.
Rhyme Scheme
The pattern of rhymes in a poem, usually described with letters.
