docs required onboard for all flights
Airworthness certificate
Registration certificate
Operators handbook (POH)
Weight and balance
Journey log
Insurance
Licenses
how long is the CoA valid for
indefinitely as long as the A/C is maintained in accordance with requirements of the controlling agency
What invalidates the CoA
Limitation not complied
Exceeded
Airworthness directive
Destroyed
snag
what must be done in order to prove airworthyness
insure sufficent airtime is remaining
compass swung within past year
ELT certified passed year
no snags
pitotstatic system certified within 2 years if using class B airspace
what document lists the owner and purpose of the aircraft
The aircraft's registration certificate.
do amateur built aircraft have a CoA
they only have a flight permit
what info comes from the CoR
nationality, registration mark, manufacturer, model, serial number, purpose, name and address of the owner, registration date, certificate issue date and minister of transport signature
how long is the CoR valid for
Destroyed
Exported
Address
Dead
Sold
how long does an aircraft owner have to notify the ministry of a address change
max of 7 days
what is the CoR procedure if an A/C is sold
CoR is filled out and mailed back to transport, with the pink copy usable until 90 days, another transfer or the new CoR is received
how long is a radio station license valid for
until march 31st anually
difference between radio station and radio operator license
The radio station license authorizes the operation of the radio station, while the radio operator license certifies the individual to operate the radio, with this license being valid for life
what does the POH stand for and why is it important to have?
it is the pilot operating handbook and has all info on the make and model of the A/C allowing for research for info that is needed to fly the A/C
What’s the difference between POH weight and balance and weight and balance aircraft reports
The POH has a generic example of weight and balance but the sheet is specific to the aircraft and includes operational equipment
Define basic empty weight
Weight of standard aircraft with full oil, unusable fuel and operational equipment
Define MTOW
Max weight approved for start of take off run
Does the weight and balance report need to be onboard for every flight
Yes it does
What important info is on the original weight and balance report that will not be found elsewhere
Date of aircraft manufacturer, actual usable fuel, amount of full oil
What’s the difference between normal and utility category
Utility is for the purpose of spins and normal is max gross weight where spins are prohibited
How will an excessive forward CoG effect the aircraft
Will require more back pressure at rotation and landing with a higher chance of wheelbarrowing or having a prop strike
How will an excessive aft CoG affect the aircraft
Less back pressure of takeoff and landing, higher chance of tail strike and dangerous stall and spin characteristics
Will there be a higher or lower then normal stall speed with an aft CoG
Stall speed is reduced but more likely for tail to drop and cause a flat spin
Will the stall speed be high or lower then normal with a a forward CoG
stall speed will increase but the nose will drop
how to determine moment
weight x arm
how often must an aircraft be reweighed
if change in weight over 2% of empty weight or if unmeasurable weight change (paint), every 5 yrs over 12500lbs
does the journey log need to be carried every flight
yes unless flight school flight within 25 nm of base
whats the difference between air and flight time
airr time is wheels up to wheels down, flight time wheels start moving under own power to when wheels stop
can u legally fly the plane with a snag even if its minor
no you cannot unless an AME has checked it and signed it off
are inspections based on air or flight time?
they are based on airtime
can you fly longer then an inspection due time
yes for 10 hours if an AME signs it off in the logbook
What type of maintenance schedule is the aircraft on
Cessnas are 50/100/50/200h inspections
How can you tell when the next inspection is due
Check the journey log
How often must the compass be swung
Compass must be swung annually
When do you require an ELT
Require at all times unless the aircraft is operated within 25nm of departure aerodrome
How often must the elt be certified
Annually
At what time can you check to see if the ELT is operational
First 5 minutes of each hour for 5 seconds
How must a journey log error be corrected
With a single line through them
How many minutes is 0.1
0.1 is 6 minutes
What are the 4 sections of the technical logbook and can it be carried onboard the aircraft
Airframe, propeller, engine and aircraft modifications, and it cannot be carried with the journey log
What must be check in the journey log before a cross country
Airworthiness, time till next inspection
What are the minimum instruments for day VFR
M manifold pressure gauge
O oil temp gauge
O oil pressure gauge
F fuel quantity indicator
A airspeed indicator
C compass
T tachometer
A altimeter
What is the minimum instruments for night VFR
F spare fuses
A attitude indicator
T turn coordinator
D directional gyro
A altimeter
P pitot heat
I instrument lights
L lights
O OAT gauge
V VSI
What are interceptions orders and where can you find them
They air air to visual communications and copies are in the plan, in the CFS and AIP
Documents that flight crew must have to pilot the aircraft
Valid medical, licenses and permits, radio license if using radio
How long is a class 3 medical valid for
5 yrs under 40 and 1 year over 40
How long is a class 1 medical valid for
1 year under 40 and 6 months over 40
When does a medical expire
First day of the following month (13th, 7th etc)
Does proof of insurance need to be carried
Yes unless commercial aircraft
