What is stoichiometry?
The relationship between the relative quantites of substances taking part in a reaction
We’re gonna use the balanced equation
What is the law of conservation of mass?
Mass is neither created nor destroyed
Total mass recantants = total mass products
What is a mole ratio?
Conversion factor stating the relationship between the numbers of moles of 2 substances in a chemical reaction, relative to one another
Comes from coefficients of a balanced equation
How many moles is the volume of a substance at STP?
22.4 L
How many moles is the mass of a substance?
It’s the element’s molar mass
How many particles are in 1 mole of a substance?
6.02x10E23
What is a limiting reactant? (LR)
The reactant that runs out 1st, after a 0 in a BCA
What is an excess reactant? (ER)
The reactant left over after the limiting reactant runs out, extra left, any reactant that isn’t 0 after the reaction in BCA
What is the theoretical yield? (TY)
The maximum amount of product that can be formed based on your limiting reactant
What is a percent yield?
Measures the efficiency of a chemical reaction
What is the formula for the percent yield?
Percent Yield = Actual Yield/ Theoretical Yield x 100
