Tissue Modification
Any change in the structure, size, or function of a tissue, often in response to growth, injury, or environmental factors.
Metaplasia
Change in a mature cell type due to stress or environmental factors (e.g., airway cells in smokers).
Hypertrophy
An increase in cell size that results in larger tissue, such as enlarged muscles.
Hyperplasia
An increase in cell number that leads to tissue growth.
Neoplasia
Abnormal, uncontrolled cell growth, often forming a tumor.
Atrophy
Decrease in tissue size due to cell loss or shrinkage (e.g., unused muscle).
Necrosis
Irreversible cell and tissue death caused by severe injury.
