Flow

the movement of water from one reservoir to another.

Infiltration

the process by which water moves down into the earth, through earth materials and below the surface.

Evaporation

The process by which water moves into the atmosphere. When water changes from a liquid to gas.

Condensation

When water vapor changes from gas to liquid/solid.

Precipitation

When liquid/solid water falls to the ground. (Ex: Rain and Snow)

Reservoir

Anywhere water is stored.

Glacier

A slowly moving mass or river of ice formed by the accumulation and compaction of snow on mountains or near the poles. The largest reserve of freshwater on earth.

Ocean

This is the largest reservoir of water on earth.

Landforms

Rocks, or groups of rocks which together create certain patterns to form natural features of the solid surface of the earth.

Cliff

a steep rock face, especially at the edge of the sea.

Atmosphere

the envelope of gases surrounding the earth or another planet.

Gravel

Large chunks of rock, easily infiltrated by water.

Clay

Very fine-grained earth material that is NOT easily infiltrated by water.

Precipitate

The process of water collecting as droplets as it moves from a gas state to a liquid state. This process forms clouds.
