The models help individuals examine the various steps in the process of communication to better understand our communication.
Transmission model of communication

Self concept
How we define our own personalities. Our self-concept is influenced by our interactions with other people. Furthermore, the feedback you receive from them such as “you’re such a good listener” helps us to understand and form the characteristics that we have. In addition, our self-concept is influenced when we compare ourselves to other people.
Perception
Our ability to form an opinion about our reality and to understand the messages and signals we are receiving can be broken down into three steps. The first is selecting, then organizing, and finally interpreting information.
