Menu
A collection of commands for interacting with an interface.
Breadcrumb
A trail of links that shows the user’s current location on a website; read left-to-right in L-to-R languages and typically separated by an icon.
Bar
A section of the UI with interactive elements that lets users perform core steps or shows the current stage of a process.
Pagination
Navigation near the bottom of a page that divides content into pages and allows moving to other sections.
Filter Bar
A bar containing data filtering options, usually hidden inside an icon.
Loading Bar (loaders)
Indicates the system is completing an action in the background; may cover the entire screen.
Navigation Bar
A bar that includes sections directing users to different parts of a website or app.
Call to Action (CTA)
An interactive element whose main purpose is to induce users to take a specific action.
Hero Section
A large banner at the top of a page that showcases media and usually contains text and a CTA.
Container
Anything that holds content together (bars, boxes, cards, lists, menus, etc.).
Icons
Images used to communicate symbolic meaning; often interactive.
Input control
Allows users to input information into the system.
Button
A shape with a label where users perform a particular action.
Checkbox Button
A small square box that can be checked or unchecked.
Radio Button
A small circular control that lets users select one option from a list.
Share button
A button that enables sharing content to social networks, usually with recognizable brand icons.
List—Dropdown
A list that drops down to allow a single item to be selected.
List—Box
A list within a static, multi-line box that allows selecting one or more items.
Field
A place for users to enter content (words, numbers, symbols).
Search Field
An input field (often with a magnifying glass) used to search within a system.
Slider Control
A control for selecting a value or range by dragging a slider.
Toggle
An on/off switch that changes the state of an input.
Modal Window
A small box containing content that requires user interaction before closing (often for irreversible actions).
Toast
A small box with a non-critical message that the user does not have to interact with.
Notification
A signifier that lets the user know something has changed or arrived.
Page
A bounded unit of content connected to other spaces via links.
Home Page
The main page of the website or app.
Landing Page
The first page a user lands on from another source, viewed as the entry page in analytics.
Header/Footer
The area at the top (header) and bottom (footer) of a web page; typically persistent across pages.
Navigation
Anything that controls movement from one place to another; includes navigation bars and sections.
Link
A button, text, or image that connects one place to another.
Footer Navigation
The area for less frequently used sections; header content can also appear in the footer.
Header Navigation
Typically includes Site ID, Sections, Utilities, and Search.
Site ID
The identifier of the website or app, usually a brand logo in the top-left corner in L-to-R languages.
Tagline
A catchphrase or slogan that identifies the meaning of the site or app, often near the Site ID.
Sections
How the primary navigation is organized in the header; may include secondary navigation.
Indicator
An element that shows the user’s current location within a section of navigation.
Utilities
Links to important site elements not part of the main content hierarchy (About, FAQs, Help, Search, Registration, etc.).
