Business Principles, Business Goals, Business Drivers, and Business Constraints
What do Business Principles define?
High-level rules or guidelines that shape how the business operates and how architecture should align
What are Business Goals?
Desired outcomes or strategic aims of the enterprise
What are Business Drivers?
Influences or motivations behind the goals, e.g., competition, regulation, market needs
Why are these business elements important in architecture?
They provide the business context needed to ensure architecture meets actual business needs
When are these business elements defined and reviewed?
Initially defined before the architecture project
Restated in the Preliminary Phase
Reviewed in Phase A for accuracy and clarity
What should you do if business principles, goals, or drivers are unclear?
Work with stakeholders or originators of the Statement of Architecture Work to clarify and validate them
How are these elements used in Phase B?
To design a business architecture that supports them
How are they used in Phases C & D?
To select and validate architecture components for data, applications, and technology
