Patient Preparation
Steps to ready a patient for an abdominal imaging procedure including removal of metal artifacts and proper positioning.
AP Supine
A common radiographic view where the patient lies supine (on their back) for abdominal imaging.
Left Lateral Decubitus
A position for imaging where the patient lies on their side, useful for detecting fluid levels in the abdomen.
Dorsal Decubitus
A radiographic position where the patient lies on their back and can show air or fluid levels in the abdomen.
Collimation
The process of limiting the x-ray beam to the area of interest to reduce radiation exposure and improve image quality.
Gonadal Shielding
Placement of lead shielding to protect reproductive organs from radiation during imaging.
Obstruction Series
A series of radiographic views aimed at evaluating potential obstructions in the bowel.
Technique
The method used in imaging, including the choice of settings for kVp and mAs based on patient size and condition.
Erect View
An upright position in radiographic imaging, often used to assess air-fluid levels.
Transabdominal
A radiographic view that involves imaging across the abdomen to visualize structures such as organs and air.
