Print Spooler
Software responsible for storing print jobs and sending them to the printer.
Tone generator
To produce an analog tone on a cable, and an inductive probe is used to 'listen' for the tone on the other end of the cable.
Digitizer
The component in a touch screen to convert analog input from a fingerprint or stylus into a digital input.
Duplex
Prints the output on both sides of the page.
Collate
Print all of the pages in a document before printing the next copy.
SMB (Server Message Block)
A protocol used by Microsoft operating systems to share files, print jobs, and other information between other Microsoft OS devices.
PAN (Personal Area Network)
Designed for a small area and usually is associated with an individual.
DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol)
Automatically assign IP addresses to devices on the network from an available pool.
APIPA (Automatic Private IP Addressing)
An IP address is automatically configured when a DHCP server is not responding.
OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode)
Emits light when a current is provided to an organic compound and does not require a backlight.
Crimper
Used to attach a modular connector to a cable.
Thermal Printer
Uses a heating element to change the color of specially treated paper and prints very quietly.
MDM (Mobile Device Manager)
Enables or disables features on the smartphone.
Windows guest VMs
An easy way to use multiple operating systems on a single machine is to run them as virtual machines.
802.11ax
Can operate in either the 2.4 GHz or the 5 GHz band, and the maximum theoretical throughput is nearly 10 gigabits per second.
NFC (Near Field Communication)
Used for making payments at a store checkout.
High availability
Includes redundant servers located in different data centers around the world.
Fuser
Melts the toner to the paper using heat and pressure and if not working, the toner will easily smear when touched.
Two-factor authentication
Requires multiple factors to complete the logon process.
ARM (Advanced RISC Machine)
Provides efficient processing, less power, and less heat than other processor types and common choice for mobile and IoT devices.
Category 6
Can support a ten gigabit per second and 10GBASE-T network to a distance of fifty-five meters.
Tone generator
Used to produce an analog tone on the cable.
Fuser
Used to permanently melts the toner to the paper using heat and pressure.
WAN (Wide Area Network)
Connects LANs across a long geographical distance.
SPF (Sender Policy Framework)
Provides a list of all servers authorized to send emails for a domain.
Hypervisor
Software which manages the virtual platform and guest operating systems.
Cellular radio
Constantly trying to find and reconnect to a cellular network.
Faulty power supply
Could cause a loss of power across all computer systems.
Firewall
Filters traffic based on a predefined set of rules.
DSL (Digital Subscriber Line)
Uses a pair of copper wires to provide Internet access over the same connection as a traditional telephone service.
Bluetooth pairing process
A PIN (Personal Identification Number) will validate the device connecting during the Bluetooth pairing process.
Rapid elasticity
A characteristic of scaling up or down cloud resources with demand.
LCD (Liquid Crystal Display)
Has a native esolution based on the physical dimensions of the display.
RAID 10
Creates a mirrored set of RAID 0 drives where data is always to available and provides redundancy.
SDN (Software Defined Networking)
Allows the functions of a networking device to be split into logical units and virtualized into a software-based deployment.
Virtual machines
Are the best to use during the the testing process to reduce hardware expenses.
NFC (Near Field Communication)
Designed to transfer small amounts of data wirelessly over a limited area.
liquid contact indicator (LCI)
Creates a red label if the device has been in close contact with liquid.
WAN (Wide Area Network)
Connects LANs across a long geographical distance.
iCloud
Provides backups, synchronization, and app installation across multiple Apple devices.
cellular radio
When a mobile provider's network isn't available, a phone will constantly try to find and reconnect to a cellular network.
Faulty crimp on an Ethernet connector
The most likely cause when port flapping occurs.
Lightning cable
You would most likely use it on Mobile apple device's data tranfers and power charging.
Metering
Measures transaction activity, CPU utilization, storage use, and other important metrics, often used for billing purposes.
Full backup
Can be used to troubleshoot a system that has been slowing down over time
create an image of the hard drive and restore to the SSD
Fastest method for use when upgrading a hard drive to an SSD.
