Seminiferous tubules
The site where sperm cells are produced in the testes.
Efferent ducts
Ducts that carry sperm from the seminiferous tubules to the epididymis.
Epididymis
The site of sperm cell maturation and storage.
Ductus (vas) deferens
A duct that transports sperm from the epididymis to the ejaculatory duct.
Ejaculatory duct
The duct that carries sperm towards the urethra for ejaculation.
Urethra
The terminal duct for the male reproductive system, through which urine and semen exit the body.
Ovarian ligament
A ligament that anchors the ovaries to the uterus.
Broad ligament
A wide fold of peritoneum that supports the uterus, ovaries, and fallopian tubes.
Suspensory ligament
A ligament that supports the ovary and contains blood vessels.
Mesovarium
The portion of the broad ligament that supports the ovaries.
Ovulation
The process of discharge of a secondary oocyte from the ovary.
Cervix
The inferior portion of the uterus that opens into the vagina.
Alveoli
Clusters of milk-secreting cells in the mammary glands.
Glans penis
The slightly enlarged acorn-shaped distal end of the penis.
Prepuce
The loosely fitting skin covering the glans penis, commonly known as the foreskin.
Areola
The circular pigmented area surrounding each nipple of the mammary glands.
Infundibulum
The funnel-shaped distal end of the uterine (fallopian) tube that captures the oocyte.
Head
The portion of a sperm cell that contains the nucleus and acrosome.
Ductus (vas) deferens
The duct that is removed during a vasectomy.
Corpus spongiosum
The mass of erectile tissue in the penis that contains the spongy urethra.
