Riverine Buffalo and Swamp Buffalo
Two major genetic divisions of Buffalo
Murrah Buffalo
A river type of buffalo, introduced after World War II.
Nili Ravi Buffalo
Milk type of buffalo breed. Buffaloes with such markings highly desired and popularly called "Panj Kalian"
Pandharpuri Buffalo
The breed can be easily identified by its long, sword shaped, sometimes twisted horns, which measure from 45-50cm upto 1-1.5m of length.
Surti Buffalo
The breeding tract of this breed is Kaira and Baroda district of Gujarat, India.
Jafarabadi Buffalo
Heaviest of all the Indian breeds of buffaloes. It is also called as Bhavnagri, Gir or Jaffari.
Philippine Buffalo
A swamp type of buffalo used primarily for draft and meat purposes.
American Polled Hereford Cattle
They are modern Herefords minus the horns. Superior foraging ability, vigor and hardiness.
Simmental Cattle
An old breed, dating back in the Middle Ages. They are large-bodied and are noted for being docile. The breed is known by a variety of names, including “Fleckvieh” in Germany

Official name of the Angus breed is Aberdeen-Angus. They are an alert and vigorous breed. They produce a desirable carcass of high-quality, well- marbled meat.
Brahman Cattle
Bos indicus cattle produce an oily secretion from sebaceous glands which has a distinctive odor and reportedly to assist in repelling insects. Instead of a “moo” they produce a grunt.
Charolais Cattle
One of the oldest of the French breeds of beef cattle. Heavily muscled in the round and loin
Limousin Cattle
Named after a province in France where they originated. They are noted for their carcass leanness and large loin area. Referred to as the “butcher’s animal” in France.
Ayrshire Cattle
Originated in the country of Ayr in Scotland. They ranked third among the dairy breeds in average milk produced per cow and fourth among the dairy breeds in average milkfat produced per cow.
Brown Swiss Cattle
One of the oldest of the dairy breeds. They are the longest live of the dairy breeds. Ranked second among the dairy breeds in average milk production and third in average milkfat produced.
Guernsey Cattle
Rank fourth in average milk produced and second in average milkfat produced per cow. They produce milk that is golden in color.
Holstein Friesian Cattle
The largest among the dairy breeds. Rank first among dairy breeds in average milk produced and fifth among the dairy breeds in average milkfat produced per cow.
Jersey Cattle
Smallest among the dairy breeds. Rank fifth among dairy breeds in average milk produced and first in average milkfat produced per cow.
Santa Gertrudis Cattle
These were developed in Texas, resulting from crossing Brahman beef-type bulls on beef-type Shorthorns.
Chianina Cattle
They are quite the largest cattle breed in the world.
Milking Shorthorn Cattle
They were formerly known as Durhams. Originally a dual- purpose breed, bred for both milk and meat production.
