chromosomes align on the metaphase plate similar to mitosis. However, the number of chromosomes is halved compared to the original diploid cell, with no extra copy.

What happens during anaphase II of meiosis?

each chromosome is split into two separate chromatids, which migrate to opposite poles of the cell.

What happens during telophase II of meiosis?

the nuclear envelope reforms, and cytokinesis occurs. This results in four haploid cells, each with one chromatid per chromosome.
