step 1

wash hands and put clean gloves before handling bedpan

step 2

pours the content of bedpan (from small side) into measuring container without spilling or splashing urine

step 3

rinses bed pan and pour into toliet

step 4

measures the amount of urine at eye leve (ROUND UP TO NEAREST 25 ML/CC)

step 5

after measuring urine, empties contents of measuring container into toliet

step 6

rinse measuring container and pour into toliet

step 7

before recording, removes and throws away gloves and washes hands

step 8

record contents of container within plus or minus 25 ml/cc
