Vocal cords/folds
We are 2 fibrous connective tissue bands in the larynx that vibrate as air passes over them to produce sound.
Trachea
I am also known as the windpipe.
Diaphragm
As a thin dome-shaped muscle, I form the boundary between the thoracic & abdominal cavities.
Larynx
I am a short, irregular shaped tube of cartilage & muscle that connects the pharynx with the trachea.
Bifurcation
I am the point at which the trachea divides into 2 primary bronchi.
Glottis
I open into the larynx.
Nares
I am another name for nostrils.
Nasal Septum
I form the midline barrier that separates the left & right nasal passages.
Pharynx
I form the common passageway for the respiratory & digestive tracts.
Arytenoid Cartilage
I am made of cartilage; the vocal folds attach to me in the larynx.
Nasal Passage
As a convoluted air passageway in the nose, I conduct air between the nostrils & the pharynx.
Nasal Turbinates
We are thin, scroll-like bones that fill most of the space in the nasal cavity.
Alveoli
As microscopic, thin-walled sacs in the lung, we are surrounded by networks of capillaries.
Paranasal Sinus
I am an outpouching of the nasal passage that is housed within a space in a skull bone.
Lobe
I am referred to also as a subdivision of the lung.
