Nobody knows exactly when slavery began, but it has been a part of human society since the beginning of recorded history.

The history of slavery has no racial or geographic boundaries; every race has been both slave and slave owner.
Who has been enslaved throughout history?
People have enslaved others of their own nations, ethnic groups, races, religions, and even families.
Give an example of people being enslaved.
White people enslaved their own neighbors and enemies; black people in Africa enslaved their tribal enemies; Christian merchants bought and sold slaves; Muslims used male slaves in their armies and females in harems; Chinese parents sold their children into slavery; Indian cultures in Mexico and the Americas had slaves.
