name the three parts of the Trinity

the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit - it is important to note that these three ‘people’ are still ONE GOD

4
New cards

describe the ‘character’ (role) of the Father - give quotes to support

the Father is transcendent. He is the one who created and now sustains the world. In the Nicene’s Creed, it says “maker of Heaven and Earth”. He is the Sustainer - in the Nicene’s Creed it says “from whom all things came and from whom we live”

5
New cards

who is the Son?

Jesus

6
New cards

describe the character/role of the Son

The Son is immanent. He is personal and was in the world - Jesus was born of a human mother and was the Son of God (Nicene’s Creed “eternally begotten of the Father”). Jesus lived, suffered and died as a human before his resurrection and victory over death. He saved us from destruction before his ascension to be fully God in Heaven.

7
New cards

describe the character/role of the Holy Spirit

the Holy Spirit is immanent yet impersonal. He is God’s presence which surrounds us, filling our spirits with the light and love of God. In the Nicene’s Creed, it says “the giver of life”, meaning that He inspires Christians in their daily lives to be made anew and alive in Christ again. He guides our journey with Christ.
