Relative Size
If 2 objects are relatively the same size, the object that appears larger is closer.
Relative Height
Objects higher in the visual field are farther away.
Interposition
AKA occlusion, when one object overlaps another, the partially obscured object is farther away.
Linear Perspective
Parallel lines appear to meet as they travel into the distance.
Texture Gradient
When looking at a object that extends into the distance the texture becomes less apparent the farther it goes into the distance.
Relative Clarity
Objects that appear hazy are farther away then the objects that appear sharp/detailed.
Light and Shadow
Nearby objects reflect more light into our eyes, dimmer objects seem farther away.
Relative Motion
AKA motion paralax, while moving, objects that are closer seem to zoom by, while objects in the distance seem to stay constant.
Ex. In car, trees appear to zoom by, while moon seems to stay constant.
