hadith 1

HADITH ABOUT CONDUCT OF INDIVIDUAL IN THE COMMUNITY

Religion is sincerity.’ We said: ‘To whom?’ The Prophet said: ‘To Allah, his Book, his Messenger, the leaders of the Muslims and to their common people.’

hadith 1 main teachings (a)

  • Islam demands sincere and genuine faith in the fundamental beliefs and towards the leaders and the members of the community.

  • This sincerity includes strong belief in Tawhid (oneness of God), the divine message of the Quran, and the messenger of God who conveyed this Message to us.

  • Muslims should sincerely follow the leader of the community who follows the Quran and Sunnah, as commanded:

“And obey God and obey the Messenger and those charged with authority among you.” (4:59)

  • Islam also requires respecting and caring for fellows in the community, as Islam is based on sincerity towards both Islam and people

hadith 1 actions (b)

  • Belief in Tawhid, Quran and the last Messenger is demonstrated by following the eternal guidance of the Quran and Sunnah and being sincere to Allah and Quran by following Sharia.

  • Muslims should observe the five pillars of Islam, as commanded:

“And establish regular prayer and pay the charity tax”

  • Cooperation with the leader of the community is an expression of sincerity, as stated in the speech of Abu Bakr on his election as caliph:

“Help me if I am in the right, set me right if I am in the wrong”

  • Sincerity towards the Prophet was shown by his Companions when they stood by him.

  • Sincerity towards fellows should be expressed by being kind, polite and respectful to them

hadith 2

HADITH ABOUT BROTHERHOOD AND UNITY

None of you believes until he wants for his brother what he wants for himself

hadith 2 teachigs

  • Muslims are bonded together with a common faith, as stated:

“Believers are a single brotherhood” (49:10)
This bond of fraternity has been established by God Himself, and therefore all Muslims should make it part of their faith.

  • Genuine faith is linked with love, care, and affection for fellow Muslims; a heart without love and care for the fellow Muslims is devoid of true faith.

  • The phrase “None of you believes” refers to imperfect faith, and not absence of faith. This shows that a believer may fall prey to a lack of love for fellows, which weakens faith.

  • Having concern for others around us and caring for members of the community is part of our faith.

hadith 2 implementation

  • Muslims should negate selfishness and promote a spirit of sacrifice and love for fellow Muslims by developing a sense of collective welfare and making efforts to ensure comfort and benefits for others as much as for himself.

  • This spirit is encouraged in Islam, as stated:

“It is more beneficial for one to give his land free to his brother than to charge him a fixed rental”
    and:
“That you desire for others that what you desire for yourself”

  • True believers should not look down upon others, should not taunt them, and should not call them by offensive nick names.

  • Muslims are not supposed to break ties with fellow brothers and should take initiative in re-establishing good relations.

  • Helping others in practical ways is part of this responsibility, such as giving Zakaat to help people and countries giving refuge to people.

  • Muslims should think good about each other, strengthening love and unity within the community
