Circular motion

when an object turns about an internal axis

Tangential speed

the distance traveled by a point on the rotating object divided by the time taken to travel that distance

Rotational speed

the number of rotations or revolutions per unit of time

Centripetal force

any force directed towards a fixed center. Means towards the center

Centrifugal force

An occupant inside a rotating system seems to experience an apparent outward force. Means away from the center

Rotational inertia

the property of an object to resist changes in its rotational state of motion. Resistance to change in rotational velocity

Angular momentum

the inertia or rotation of rotating objects

Law of conservation of angular momentum

If no external net torque acts on a rotating system, the angular momentum of that system remains constant

Center of mass

the average position of all the mass that makes up the object

Center of gravity

the average position of weight distribution

Torque

tendency of a force to cause rotation

Class 1 lever

fulcrum between force and load

Class 2 lever

load between force and fulcrum

Class 3 lever

force between load and fulcrum
