What is the RBT ethics code?
Set of rules on how to behave professionally
What are the 3 sections?
Section 1: general responsibilities. Section 2: responsibilities in providing BT services
Section 3: responsibilities to the BACB-Required supervisor
What are the 4 core principles?
RBTs: benefit others; treat others with compassion, dignity, and compassion; behave with integrity; and ensure their own competence

RBTs are honest and work to support an environment that promotes honesty
1.02
RBTs conduct themselves in a professional manner and are accountable for their actions
1.03
RBTs only provide services under their RBT certification with ongoing supervision
1.04
RBTs are never employers of their supervisors
1.05
Do not make false, misleading, statement about their qualifications
1.06
Provide behavior technician services only after confirming competence with supervisors
1.07
RBTs work with their supervisors to ensure that they can be culturally responsive in their work
1.08
Do not harass or discriminate against others
1.09
RBTs are aware of their personal biases or challenges to effectively carry out BT services
1.10
RBTs avoid multiple relationships with clients, coworkers, and supervisors that may result in conflicts of interest and risk of harm to the client
1.11
RBTs do not give or accept gifts with a value of more than $10
1.12
RBTs do not engage in sexual relationships with current clients, stakeholders, or supervisors ( minimum of 2 years)

Do no harm and work to support the client

Follow the direction of their supervisor and accurately implement BT services
2.03
Conduct themselves in a professional manner during all work activities
2.04
Do not use unfamiliar interventions or provide services without receiving proper training
2.05
Implement punishment based procedures only when included in a plan approved by the supervisor
2.06
Direct questions or concerns about fellow RBTs to their supervisors
2.07
Taking necessary action to protect client’s legal rights and that there is no harm to client
2.08
Protect the confidentiality and privacy of their clients
2.09
Do not share identifying information on social media
2.10
Only discuss confidential information under the direction of their supervisor unless allowed by law
3.01
Comply with the requirements of the BACB (May be subject to audits)
3.02
RBTs are honest and accurate in all communications with the BACB
3.03
RBTs do not cheat or help others cheat on RBT competency assessment or examinations
3.04
RBTs are aware of the events they need to self-report to the BACB (within 30 days)
3.05
Do not misuse the intellectual property of the BACB
3.06
RBTs named in a notice of Alleged Violation or receive a required action from the BACB will notify their supervisor and comply accordingly
3.07
RBTs regularly check their BACB account to ensure personal information is accurate

Services provided under the direction of a BACB that implement behavior change interventions
Client
The direct recipient of behavioral services
Client’s rights
Human rights, legal rights
Conflict of interest
Incompatibility between an RBTs private and professional interest resulting in potential risk to services provided
Multiple relationships
A mixing of two or more of an RBTs role (professional and personal)
Scope of competence
The BT services an RBT can accurately carry out
Stakeholder
An individual other than the client who is impacted and invested in the BT’s services
