New cards

what happens when you want to depart past VOID times.

Pilot who do not depart prior to the clearance void time must advise ATC as as possible of their intentions.

(Clearance can be void if pilot is not in air by specified time.)

2
New cards

How long does a pilot have to tell ATC if they want to fly after times has been VOID?

No more than 30 mins.

3
New cards

Route

ATC facilities issue an abbreviated IFR departure clearance based on the route of the filed flight plan. If the IFR flight plan can be approved with little to no revision.

4
New cards

Cruise (not “climb + maintain”)

Used instead of “maintain” to assign a block of airspace from the minimum of IFR altitude up to and including altitiude speicifed by ATC.

5
New cards

How to climb and decend in “Cruise” by ATC

Climb/Descent in the block once the pilot says + moves to a different altitude inthe block. Must confirm with ATC if the pilot wants to move from that position again.

6
New cards

VFR-on-top (NOT SAFE FLIGHT)

If operating VFR + compliance with any radar vector/altitude would cause violation of CFR. Advise ATC and obtain clearance to change.

7
New cards

Where will ATC not authorize VFR-on-top?

Class A airspace

8
New cards

What conditions must be met to fly VFR-on-top?

-Fly VFR altitudes;Even/Odd+500 (91.159)

-Comply w/ VFR Visibility and Cloud Clearance (91.155)

-Comply w/ IFR Applicable rules (ei, IFR altitudes, Position reporting, Radio comms, etc)

9
New cards

VFR-on-top (Noise abatement rules)

ATC will not authorize VFR-on-top when the operation results in noise abatement. Where part of the IFR departure route does not conform to FAA rules about noise abatement.

10
New cards

Speed Adjustment

Complying with speed assignments:Maintain airspeed within ±10 knots/ 0.02 Mach of specified speed.

11
New cards

What to read back when talking to Departure?

Read back…

Altitude Assignments,

-Vectors,

-Assigned Rwys.

12
New cards

Are pilots free to operate VFR prior to IFR Clearance?

Pilots may operate VFR before accepting an IFR clearance. They may cancel IFR clearance and proceed VFR as desired.

13
New cards

What if a pilot wants to activate VFR search + rescue on an IFR flight plan?

For the portion of the flight not conducted in IFR, the Pilot must file a separate flight plan, which must also be activated and closed.

14
New cards

Can VFR waypoints be used in IFR flight plans?

!!!No!!!!

VFR waypoints cannot be used in IFR flight plans. For the VFR waypoints are not recognized by the IFR system + will be rejected by IFR routing purposes.
