Linear Momentum
the mass of an object multiplied by its velocity
momentum and friction
give something momentum and it runs out because of the friction force. In interstellar space, it will keep moving until the end of time in the same velocity and same momentum because there is no external force to stop it
force is
the time rate of change of linear momentum
for momentum (vector stuff)
linear impulse
the quantity of force times time is linear impulse
look into slowing impulse
slow impulse
make delta T longer
change of direction impulse
check slide
conservation of linear impulse (two bodies)
the amount of momentum in the systems before and after the collision is the same, but some of it is transferred from one body to the other
conservation of linear impulse eq
conservation of linear momentum on;y applies when
no external impulse is acting on the system
