Stoichiometry
The area of chemistry that deals with the calculation of reactants and products in chemical reactions.
Molar Mass
The mass of one mole of a substance, commonly expressed in grams per mole.
Limiting Reactant
The reactant that is completely consumed in a chemical reaction, limiting the amount of product formed.
Percent Yield
The ratio of the actual yield of a product to the theoretical yield, expressed as a percentage.
Molarity
A measure of concentration; moles of solute per liter of solution.
Coefficients in a balanced equation
Numbers placed in front of compounds in a chemical equation to indicate the ratio of reactants to products.
Concentration
The amount of a substance per defined space; in molarity, it is expressed in moles per liter.
Redox Reaction
A chemical reaction involving the transfer of electrons between two species.
Conversion from grams to moles
To find the number of moles from grams, divide the mass in grams by the molar mass of the substance.
Actual Yield
The measured amount of a product obtained from a reaction.
Theoretical Yield
The maximum amount of a product that could be formed from a given amount of reactants.
