constant flow of water from roots to xylem and out of leaf

what is the process of water in from the plant and out of it 3

1. water goes into the roots by osmosis

2. water and mineral ions go through the continuous column of water

3. water then diffuses (not osmosis) water vapour out of the leaf through the stomata

what happens if the plant loses water faster than it takes in

it will wilt and collapse and a great loss of surface area.

what will happen inside the leaf if it wilts 4

1. stomata will close

2. photosynthesis will stop

3. it will prevent further water loss

4. it will die if not watered
