Power
the capacity to influence the actions, behaviors, and decisions of another individual
Force
the actual use of power by thretening coercion or consequence to impose an action or decision over another
Influence
exercised through persuasion and relationship
Authority
power generated from legitimate means such as an election (traditional, rational - legal, charismatic)
Traditional Authority
legitimated by the sanctity of tradition
ability and right to rule is passed down, often through heredity

Rational - legal Authority
empowered by a formalistic belief in the content or the law (legal) on natural law (rationality)

umbrella term used to refer to institutions established by three or more states as voluntary memebers, formed through a formal agreement or treaty, in order to promote cooperation and coordination among them
