Anglican facts
started in England. anglican church. head is archbishop of Canterbury. unique way of worshipping
Protestantism facts
Emphasises importance of reading Bible + having direct relationship wiht God. many branches each w/ own practices and beliefs.
One god
monotheism. also this extract from the bible: '[…] you shall have no other gods before me'. and nicene creed: 'we believe in one god' which is simpler.
God - traits and stuff
creator + sustainer of the world, created humans to have a relationship with them + guide them, often masc presentation because he's seen as stereotypical masc. - strength + power. but he also has some stereotypical fem in caring and loving too
inconsistent triad
evil existing, god being omnipotent, god being omnibenevolent.
why is the inconsistent triad an issue?
if he's so powerful and loving, he'd do something about the evil. that or he isn't powerful/isn't loving/doesn't exist
responses to moral evil
not our place to judge God!!, our free will, not his fault, can you really have good without evil? light without darkness? pain makes beauty shine so much brighter, the whole original sin mess, because of the devil//Satan, god suffers with youuu
and actions to do w/ this would be like. prayer i guess
responses to natural evil
punishment for mistakes/wrongdoings
test to make sure you do the right thing, and also your faith
form of education
all part of God's plan
the whole balance thing, and the god suffers with you thing
prayers
creation story speedrun
day one - heavens and earth, light and dark, day and night.
day 2 - separated heaven and earth
day 3 - split water from land, plants
day 4 - sun, moon, stars. for some reason these are in heaven.
day 5 - birds and sea creatures. 'be fruitful and multiply'.
day 6 - land animals, same as sea and sky. also humans i just put this in a different box.
day 7 - rest
the whole humans thing
adam is made of dust brought to life.
garden of eden - four rivers. names: pishon, gihan, tigris, euphrates.
god says 'eat from any tree EXCEPT the tree of knowledge of good and evil because if you do you will die'
god made eve from Adam's rib, as a ''''''helper''''''.
adam, presumably, went round sticking names on everything.
the whole fruit bit isn't noted in the creation table i have!! sorry. probs unneeded though (i hope)
biblical literalism
where you take the bible at face value 100% literally.
religious myth
bible is more of a 'myth with the truth woven in' type thing and not literal
ex nihilo
out of nothing - in this context, god's creation of the universe from nothing.
literal creation
exactly true - here god LITERALLY created the world in 6 days + rest.
religious myth creation
God created the world, but not necessarily in 6 days. allows for Big Bang too :)
the word
jesus, according to John
IMPORTANCE of creation
shows holy trinity existed since beginning of time.
gives meaning and purpose to christianity
key belief
shows God's power
the basis of original sin, another BIG OL THING in terms of christianity
a reason to be grateful to God + worship him
INFLUENCE of creation
in a whole ton of gospels
serves as an ''''excuse'''' for sin as well as a reason to push yourself to be better
idea of who God is and how he is
a way to get people in, before big bang theory was so accepted. answers the Big Question™.
shows how deep rooted God's influence is - created the world itself
knowing of God's power -> respect//fear, reason to pray, grateful etc.
God as a role model
trinity
father, son, holy spirit (otherwise known as holy ghost)
father
the creator one. like a (good) human father - wants the best for us. the one who judges us for heaven//hell
son
JC!! came to earth to save us from our sins, out of love. proven divine because resurrection.
holy spirit
god's spirit, sent down @ disciples post Jesus death. helps them through hard times + gives guidance.
desc. - sounds like strong winds, looks like tongues of flame. made disciples know a bunch of languages and was felt in their hearts. this happened 50 days post jesus death
trinity's influence on christians
comfort - HS
relatable - S
pushed to be better - F (if you don't want punishment!)
love for god - S (because the feeling is mutual)
put hope + faith into God
prayer - Lord's prayer (that bit's F)
Incarnation
a person who embodies in the flesh a deity, spirit, or abstract quality.
resurrection
back from the dead. esp. when Jesus becasue he's so special like that
blashphemy
sinful act or remark.
gospels on jesus's birth
mark -- ignored it really
matthew -- stated some family stuff - related to king david, abraham, born from god's holy spirit
luke -- details journey to Bethlehem, + the whole manger thing
john -- he's the Word guy! 'the Word became human + lived here w/ us'. apparently he saw the spirit come down on jesus so that's cool.
jesus response to peter calling him 'the christ'
please dont. theyll accuse me of blasphemy :((
how is jesus being both divine and human contradictory
if divine = above human, then jesus = ??? if divine = perfect, original sin in humans = imperfection, so jesus = ???
christian answers to that whole mess
due to his nature, he can do both. also because he's willing to take on this burden he's really nice + loves us a lot
easter week + palm sunday speedrun
palm sunday - jesus enters Jerusalem on a donkey.

maundy thursday - last supper. Judas betrays Jesus, he is arrested
good friday - crucifixion, Jesus dies.

crucifixion
Roman method of execution by nailing a person to a wooden cross. happened to Jesus on Good Friday. you die from asphyxiation (can't breathe) in between a day i think?? or just a few hours.
what happened w/ the crucifixion of JC according to my epic storyboard i made
pontius pilate sentenced him to death
he forgave the guards
told Crucified Man A that he would go to heaven
called out 'father into your hands i commit my spirit' and died
'''buried''' in a tomb because Sabbath or something, rock rolled in front of exit
came back
influence of crucifixion
confidence that accepting jesus -> prevents sin ruining lives
suffering is a part of life + god suffers with them because he's gone through it too
resurrection segment start bit but we already got resurrection as a card
this is literally just a 'resurrection land' tag
ascension
40 days post resurrection, Jesus returns to F Heaven
gospel names
john, mark, matthew, luke
resurrection story speedrun
angels appears to mary magdalene in front of tomb, tell her that Jesus is back. she finds strips of cloth but no body in the tomb. 40 days later JC goes back to heaven because actually earth sucks :)
atonement
making amends for loss / damage // that someone else has done
forgiveness, sacrifice, suffering
too obvious to bother sorry not sorry
reconciliation
restoring a relationship, reaching understanding post separation / argument.
