What are the sequential stages of the plant cell cycle?

Mitosis, cytokinesis, and interphase.

2
New cards

What are the phases of the Interphase?

G1, S and G2 phase

3
New cards

What are Initials in plants?

Plant cells that make up the apical meristem.

4
New cards

What is the Protein Kinases?

(Cyclin-dependent kinases) are responsible for proceeding through activation and subsequent deactivation.

5
New cards

What is the G1 phase?

After Mitosis and Cytokinesis, Cell doubles in size, organelles, enzymes and other molecules increase in number.

6
New cards

What is the S phase?

DNA replicated and associated proteins synthesized. Two copies of cell’s genetic information now exists.

7
New cards

What is the G2 phase?

“proofing” phase checks to make sure chromosome replication is complete and repairs any damaged DNA. Chromosomes also begin to condense, but are still difficult to distinguish from the nucleoplasm

8
New cards

What is the interphase in Plants and why is it unique?

The nucleus is anchored in the center of the cel;l; by cytoplasmic strands. These strands merge to form a transverse sheet that bisects the cell called phragmosome (composed of microtubules and actin filaments)

New cards

What is the prephophase band in plant cellcycle?

A dense band of microtubules encircling the nucleus just beneath the plasma membrane at the equatorial plane. It disappears after the initiation of the mitotic spindles, long before the cell plate forms/

10
New cards

What happens during prophase in plant cell cycle.

Chromatin condenses to chromosomes, sister chromatids are joined in the center by centromere, towards the end the nuclear envelope breaks down.

11
New cards

What happens during metaphase in plant cell cycle.

Mitotic spindles form at each pole, some microtubules are captured by the kinetochores. The end of Metaphase is marked by the alignment of centromere on the equatorial plane.

New cards

What happens during Anaphase in plant cell cycle.

it is the shortest phase of mitosis, marked by the separation of sister chromatids at the centromere where they are pulled toward opposite poles. The end of Anaphase is marked when the daughter chromatids reach opposite poles.

13
New cards

What happens during Telophase in plant cell cycle.

Phragmoplast forms between daughter nuclei, nuclear envelope forms around seperated chromosomes, chromosomes unwind and spindles disappear and nuclei reform.

14
New cards

What happens during the Cytokinesis in plant cell cycle.

The cell plate forms from the middle outward, formed by the secretory vesicles from tubular outgrowths on the Golgi Apparatus, cell plate replaces preprophase ban and each daughter cell forms their own primary cell wall.
