Digital Mammography
A breast imaging technique that uses X-rays to visualize breast morphology.
DBT (Digital Breast Tomosynthesis)
Produces 3D images of the breast after reconstructing various low-dose 2D projections.
CEM (Contrast-Enhanced Mammography)
An imaging technique that uses iodine contrast agent administered intravenously for better visualization of breast tissue.
CBCT (Cone Beam Computed Tomography)
A breast imaging technique that uses a cone-shaped X-ray beam to capture 3D images without breast compression.
MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging)
A non-ionizing imaging technique using a strong magnetic field and radiofrequency pulses to produce breast images.
Non-Ionizing Radiation
Radiation that does not have enough energy to remove electrons from atoms, such as used in MRI and ultrasound.
Ionizing Radiation
Radiation that has enough energy to remove tightly bound electrons from atoms, leading to ionization, as in X-rays.
Compression in Mammography
Force applied to the breast to minimize motion and improve image quality while reducing radiation dose.
Grid in Mammography
A device placed between the breast and detector to reduce unwanted scattered radiation and improve image contrast.
AEC (Automatic Exposure Control)
A system that automatically regulates the radiation dose based on the density of the breast tissue to optimize image quality.
Ultrasound in Breast Imaging
An imaging technique that uses sound waves to visualize breast tissue, providing information about lesions and blood flow.
