Representation
Representing the sending state in the receiving state. He has to take care of larger national interests of the sending state and therefore, has to keep a close eye on the ongoing political, economic, commercial and scientific developments in the receiving states.
Information and Communication
Reporting important issues between states. It is the diplomat’s task to choose and dispatch appropriate reports on various issues.
Ceremonial Functions
Being the representative of the sending state,diplomat agents are supposed to attend various ceremonies in the receiving state.
Nationals Abroad
To deal with the problems of its own nationals abroad, the diplomatic missions function within the limits of international law and the policy norms of the sending state. Thus diplomat protecting the interests of its nationals abroad and providing visas, passports and guidance on different matters required by them.
International Organization
Most of the state depute permanent representatives/special diplomats at the UN Headquarters and other IOs such as IMF, World Bank, ILO, WTO, etc to look after their interest and promote their policies. Such diplomats possess special skills and intellectual power to influence the policies of such prestigious global bodies.
