Set
A collection of objects, also known as elements.
Element
An individual object within a set.
Subset
A set S is a subset of set T if every element of S is also an element of T.
Superset
A set T is a superset of set S if it contains every element of S.
Empty set
A set that contains no elements, denoted by Æ or { }.
Cardinality
The number of elements in a set, denoted as |S|.
Powerset
The set of all subsets of a set S, written as P(S).
Union of sets
The set containing all elements in either set S or set T or both, denoted by S È T.
Intersection of sets
The set containing only elements that are in both sets S and T, denoted by S Ç T.
Proper subset
A set S is a proper subset of T if S is a subset of T and S is not equal to T.
