What is C.A.T.?
Restructuring of Citizen Army Training required to all Fourth Year High School students in the Philippines in all public and private schools as provided by Department of Education (DepEd)
COMPONENTS OF C.A.T.
MILITARY ORIENTATION
COMMUNITY SERVICE
PUBLIC SAFETY AND LAW ENFORCEMENT SERVICE
Military Orientation
It deals with the introduction and exposure of the learner to basic knowledge, unfamiliar situations, and experience as well as activities related to the military.
Community Service
It refers to any activity that helps achieve the general welfare and the betterment of the life of the members of the community.
Public Safety and Law Enforcement Service
Encompasses all programs and activities which contributes to the maintenance of peace and order, enhancement of public safety, and encouragement in the observance of and compliance to laws.
Reward/s
- is given to non-officers or officers as a punishment for offenses that are not considered demerit. It serves to warn non-officers/officers on any and all of their misconducts.
- it also serves as a precedent to demerits if the receiver continues his misconduct.
- a reward has no bearing on a non–officer’s grades. Instead, it instills discipline through physical training. A reward incurred by any one of the members of a platoon will be reflected on the whole platoon
Different Kinds of Reward
1. Push-ups (10 reps per week)
2. One minute squat
3. Pumping (10 reps per week)
4. Squat trust (10 reps per week)
5. One minute Helicopter
Demerit/s
Is a corrective measure that is given to an officer, non-officer, or group of non-officers as punishment for any misconduct which constitutes such.
Class A: MAJOR MISDEMEANORS
10-30 DEMERITS:
Gross disrespect of superior officers
Abuse of authority
Unexcused absence
Destruction of school property
Cheating during examinations
Violation of standing instructions
Cadets: Long hair and moustache
Class B: GRAVE MISDEMEANORS
8-10 DEMERITS:
Points the rifle at any person
Rumor mongering
Making boisterous remarks while in ranks
Sleeping in the classroom while instruction is being conducted
Tardiness in formation
Unkempt hair
Class C: LESS GRAVE MISDEMEANORS
4-5 DEMERITS:
Slouching in ranks
Rolling up of sleeves
Spitting in ranks
Walking in uniform without headgear
Does any act detrimental to discipline while in ranks (howling, shouting, etc.)
Chewing of gums and candies while in ranks
Carelessly laying aside the rifle
Wearing of dirty and slovenly uniform
Commits any act similar in nature as the offenses mentioned.
Class D: MINOR MISDEMEANORS
1-3 DEMERITS:
Untucked T-shirt
Used of unneeded accessories
Unbraided hair for cadettes
Unpolished brass article
Dirty face
Not bringing handouts
Malingering
Wearing of uniform other than one prescribed
Falling out from ranks without permission
Lazily dragging the rifle
Commits any act similar in nature to the above offenses.

Is a positive incentive given to a deserving officer, non-officer, or group of non-officers as a reward for all actions constituting such
Its purpose is to instill the discipline, the responsibility, and the sense of justice necessary in maintaining the unity of the platoon/class

Integrity – be honest at all times
Loyalty - speak well of the institution
Service/Honor – work for the betterment of mankind
