Psychoanalytic Perspective
A perspective that focuses on how the unconscious mind is formed by early childhood experiences.
The Collective Unconscious
According to Jung, this is comprised of all the past human memories of your ancestors and beyond, containing the four archetypes and shaping society today.
The Animus
This archetype refers to the male image in the female mind and the masculine energy he is able to tap into
The Conscious Mind
According to Freud, a level of the mind that contains every thought, feeling, memory, hope, dream, etc. that you're aware of at any given time.
The Ego
According to Freud, the part of the personality that's represented by our conscious decision-making process.
The Super Ego
The part of the personality that keeps the moral principles from which the ego operates, opposing the Id.
Id
The part of our personality that focuses on our basic needs, containing all the hidden things we want, think, and store memories of.
The Self
This archetype refers to the unified efforts of both the consciousness and unconsciousness working together.
The Shadow
This archetype is part of the unconscious, defining our sexual life and life instincts and including repressed ideas and desires.
The Personal Unconscious
According to Jung, this is all of the things that have been repressed or rejected from the consciousness of a person.
The Anima
This archetype refers to the female image in the male mind and the feminine energy he is able to tap into
The Unconscious Mind
According to Freud, a level of the mind that contains anything that you feel, think, remember, or want to do that's outside of your conscious awareness, including repressed memories and unpleasant feelings.

According to Freud, a level of the mind where anything that could ever possibly be brought into the conscious mind exists.
