Captus nihil dixit

When captured he said nothing

Servitute liberatus, vitam iucundam aget

Free from slavery, he will live a pleasant life

Dona dantibus gratias egit

He thanked those giving gifts

Aliquem dona petentem non amo

I do not love someone seeking gifts

Homini multam pecuniam cupienti pauca dona sola dabat

To a man desiring much money he used to give only a few gifts

Ad ludum tuum filium meum docendum misi

I sent my son to your school to be taught

Iste, aliam gentem victurus, magistros librosque delere cupierbat

That man, when about to conquer others, was wishing to destroy teachers and books

His insidiis territi, vitam miseram vivemus

Terrified by this plot, we will live a wretched life

Diu oppressi, se contra opprimentem tyrannum vertere coeperunt

Oppressed for a long time, they began to turn themselves againsts the oppressing tyrant

Illi quattor viri miseri, a tyranno visi, trans finem cucurrent

Those four unfortunate men, seen by the tyrant, ran across the border

Orator, tyrannum timens, iucunda semper dicebat

The orator, fearing the tyrant, always was saying pleasant things

Aliquem nos timentem timemus

We fear someone fearing us

Hi vincentes omnia iura civium victorum tollent

If these men conquer, will take away all the rights of conquered citizens

Ille miser fugiturus consilium trium amicorum petebat

The wretched man on the point of fleeing was seeking the advice of three friends

Senex, ab duobus ex amicis monitus, ad nos fugit

The old man, warned by two of his friends, fled to us

Ipse, a sene secundo adiutus, pecunia carentibus multas res dabat

Having himself been helped by the second old man, he was giving many things to those lacking money

Quis, his periculis liberatus deis gratia non dabit?

Who when freed from those dangers, will not thank the gods?

Iuncti vobiscum, rem publicam conservabimus

Joined with you, we shall save the republic

Fidem habentibus nihil est incertum

To those having faith nothing is uncertain
