The ability to recognize, understand, and manage our own emotions and the emotions of others.
Culture

Subculture
A cultural group within a larger culture, often having beliefs or interests at variance with those of the larger culture.
Primary dimension of diversity
Inborn differences, including physical traits and mental aptitudes.
Secondary dimension of diversity
Differences that may change at various points throughout one's lifetime, including characteristics such as language, religion, income, geographic location, family status, work experience, communication style, and education level.
Overcommitment
Taking on too much responsibility and work.
Low morale
Lack of enthusiasm or job satisfaction.
Stress
Mental or emotional strain or tension resulting from adverse or very demanding circumstances, short-term.
Burnout
Exhaustion that is usually caused by too much stress, long term.
SMART Goals
Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound goals.
Programmed thinking
Generating ideas in logical, analytical, and organized ways.
Attribute listing
Listing the characteristics or attributes of something and then finding ways to improve these attributes.
Lateral thinking
Generating ideas in purposely illogical ways.
Mind mapping
Creating a diagram for representing tasks, words, concepts, or items linked to and arranged around a central concept or subject.
Starbursting
Participants come up with a series of questions on a topic of discussion, rather than providing solutions or answers; starters are who, what, why, where, when, and how.
Forced questioning
Similar to starbursting but with more varied starters.
Synectics
Assessing situations from different (often incompatible) perspectives and combining them.
Forced analogy
Comparing a problem with something totally unrelated.
Divergent thinking
Generating multiple ideas and/or solutions to a problem, often in a creative manner.
Convergent thinking
Seeking the single best answer to a problem or need.
Framing
Tendency to respond to situations based on how those situations are posed or viewed.
Laissez-faire
Only general guidance, a lot of freedom.
Democratic
Moderate control, frequent meetings, seek input.
Authoritarian
High degree of control, very specific instructions.
Autocratic
One person makes decisions on behalf of the group.
Innovative
Employees are encouraged to exchange ideas and to 'think outside the box.'
Minimum decision-making style
Decision maker decides without help.
Moderate decision-making style
Decision maker asks for some help before deciding.
Maximum decision-making style
Entire group decides together.
