Constructed-Response Question
A type of question requiring a written response, demonstrating knowledge and reasoning in a specific subject area.
Individualized Education Program (IEP)
A legal document outlining the educational plan for a student with disabilities, detailing goals and accommodations.
Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee
A group that determines a child's eligibility for special education and develops an IEP.
Present Levels of Academic Achievement and Functional Performance (PLAAFP)
A statement in the IEP that summarizes a student's current skill levels.
Assistive Technology
Any device or software that helps individuals with disabilities perform functions that might otherwise be difficult or impossible.
Least Restrictive Environment (LRE)
The educational setting that allows students with disabilities to be educated alongside their peers without disabilities to the maximum extent appropriate.

A visual aid for organizing and representing knowledge, often used as an accommodation in education.
Progress Monitoring

Levels of instructional intervention that offer increasing intensity of support for students struggling academically.
State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR)
A standardized testing program used in Texas to assess student academic performance in core subjects.
Social Emotional Learning (SEL)
An educational approach that aims to develop students' skills in managing emotions, setting goals, establishing relationships, and making decisions.
Differentiation
Tailoring instruction to meet individual needs and learning styles of students.
Self-advocacy
The ability of students to understand and communicate their own needs and advocate for themselves in an educational setting.
