Action: flexion, abduction, and laterally rotates thigh

Vastus Lateralis (under sartorius)
Extension of leg and stabilize knee

Rectus Femoris(Middle under sartorius)
Action: extension of leg and flexion of thigh at hip
Orgin: anterior inferior iliac spine and superior margin of acetabulum (rim of hip socket)
Insertion: Tibial tuberosity through patellar ligament

Vastus Medialis (Close to inside theigh)
Extension of leg

Adductor Longus (space with nerves)
Action: adducts, flexes, and medially rotates thigh

Adductor Femoris (section split into two)
Action: Adduction of thigh

Semitendinosus(bottom of theigh)
Action: extends thigh and flexes knee , medially rotates tibia when knee is flexed

Semimembraneous (under Adductor Femoris)
Action: extends thigh and flexes knee

Gracilis(Bottom flap of leg)
Action: adducts thigh , flexes, and medially rotates leg

Rhomboideus Capitis (Head)
Action- stabilizes scapula
-draws scapula cranially(towards head) and dorsally (midline)
Orgin: spinous processes C7-T1 and T2-T5
Insertion: medial border of scapula

Latissimus dorsi(giant v shape muscle side of back)
Action: arm extension, arm adductor, medially rotates arm

Supraspinatus (part under flap near shoulder on back)
Action: abduction of arm

Acromiodeltoid(directly on shoulder)
Action: Abduction of humerus
Orgin: acromion and spine of scapula
Insertion: Deltoid tuberosity of humerus

Spinodeltoid(little section under armpit area)
Action: elevates, extends, and rotates the humerus

Spinotrapezius(triangle on back)
Action- stabilizes, depress scapula, adducts (retracts), and rotates scapula.

Lateral Tricep Brachii head
Action: extension forearm against resistance
Orgin: posterior shaft of humerus
Insertion: olecranon of ulna

Tibialis Anterior (front of leg)
Action: dorsiflexion
Orgin: lateral condyle of tibia and upper 2/3 of tibial shaft and interosseous membrane
Insertion: inferior surface of medial cuneiform and first metatarsal bone

Gastrocnemius(calf or under portion of leg)
Action: plantar flexes foot
Orgin: two heads from lateral and medial condyles of femur
Insertion: posterior calcaneus

Brachioradialis (under palmaris Longus)
Action-synergist of flexion of forearm
Orgin-lateral suprachondular of distal end humerus
Insertion-radial styloid process

Extensor digitorum Lateralis (under brachioradialis)
Action: extend lateral four digits and dorsiflex ankle

Bicep Femoris (back of theigh)
Action: extension of thigh , flexion of knee, laterally rotates leg when knee is flexed
Orgin: long head: ischial tuberosity of pelvis short head: linea aspera and lateral suprachondular line of femur
Insertion: head of fibula and lateral condyle of tibia

Gluteus maximus(next to top of tail)
Action: major extensor of thigh

external oblique (flap on side )
Action- Flex vertebral column and compress abdominal wall when contracted
-aid in trunk rotation and lateral flexion

Rectus Abdominis (down side of middle)
Action- Flex and rotate lumbar region of vertebral column

Bicep Brachii
Action: Flexion and supination of arm
Orgin: Short head: coracoid process of scapula , long head: supraglenoid tubercle and lip of glenoid cavity of scapula and into intertubercular sulcus of humerus
Insertion: radial tuberosity

Pectoantebrachialis(across middle of chest)
Action= pull humerus toward chest or adduction

Pectoralis Major
Action-adduction
Origin: sternal end of clavicle, sternum, and cartilage of ribs 1-6
Insertion- humerus

Pectoralis Minor
Action- Adduction

Xiphihumeralis (under pectoralis minor)
Action= adduction of the forelimb Orgin=xiphoid process of sternum Insertion=humerus

Sternocleidomastoid (lump)
Action-flex and laterally rotate head
Orgin-manubrium of sternum and medial portion of clavicle
Insertion - mastoid process of temporal bone and superior nuchal line of occipital

Sternohyoid (under blue line/vein)
Action- depresses larynx/hyoid bone for speaking and swallowing

Digastric (connects to bottom of chin)
Opens mouth by depresses mandible and elevate hyoid bone for swallowing/speech

Epitrochlearis (circle flap under arm near armpit )
Action- elbow extension and forearm supination (twisting/rotate)

Tricep Brachii long head (back of arm)
Action- extension of forearm
Orgin- Infraglenoid tubercle of scapula
Insertion- olecranon process of ulna

Palmaris Longus
Action-flexion of wrist and tension of skin
Origin-medial epicondyle humerus
Insertion- palmar aponeurosis
