Digestive System

Ruminant

an animal with a four chambered stomach used to process cellulose

Mouth

uses saliva and enzymes to moisten food, so it will become a bolus

Oesophagus

a muscular tube that pushes the bolus to the stomach through peristalasis

Rumen

is the fermentation of food digested that helps bacteria to digest though papillae bacteria

Reticulum

is the fermentation of food further though the breaking down of a polygonal surface

Omasum

absorbs water and takes place after cud is chewed, it also has longitudinal folds for mechanical digestion

Abomasum

chemical digestion, enzymes and stomach acids break down bolus

Monogastric

one chamber stomach

Stomach

enzymes and acidic fluid break down the bolus

Small intestine

Helps further digest food from the stomach and absorbs proteins

Large Intestine

absorbs water after digestion and solidifies food

Cecum

helps move feces out of the body

Anus

where the feces leaves the body
