How do prefixes and suffixes help determine the definition of a word?
Prefixes are word parts added to the beginning of a word that modify its meaning. Suffixes are word parts added to the end of a word that can change its meaning, part of speech, or grammatical function. Understanding them allows for breaking down complex terms into recognizable components to infer their overall meaning.
What is the FUNCTION of the Nucleus?
The Nucleus houses the cell's genetic material (DNA), organized into chromosomes, and controls cell growth, metabolism, and reproduction by regulating gene expression.
What is the FUNCTION of the Cell Membrane?
The Cell Membrane (plasma membrane) is a selectively permeable barrier that regulates the passage of substances into and out of the cell. It also plays roles in cell signaling and adhesion.
What is the FUNCTION of Cilia and Flagella?
Cilia are short, hair-like projections that facilitate movement of the cell or movement of substances across the cell's surface. Flagella are longer, whip-like tails (usually one or a few) that propel the cell through fluid.
