LAV SMOKE DETECTOR & FIRE Procedure

1. Carefully feel different areas of the door (with the back of hand) to estimate heat intensity & location of fire.

• If LAV is locked - knock & ask PAX to step out. Use discretion & do not embarrass PAX. Silence cabin alerts if possible when time permits. Notify FFA, who will notify PIC.

• If door is cool - carefully open door, check for fire & extinguish if needed.

• If door is hot - keep door closed & use crash axe to make a hole (or cautiously crack open door open just enough to discharge the extinguisher), extinguish fire. Continue to monitor until red indicator light on smoke detector or indicator on CAP clears.

2. Smoke detector will reset & become sensitive to smoke again once smoke is no longer detected.

3. Fill out IF Incident Report.

What is the procedure if PAX is suspected of smoking in LAV?

1. Ask PAX if smoking.

2. IRMOD.

3. Check LAV for fire hazards, evidence of smoking, or tampering of smoke detector.

2. 500 pounds of pressure is exerted on the mooring line.

717 - To ARM FWD Doors

1. Place red warning flag across viewing window.

2. Remove girt bar from stowage bracket.

2. Rotate Door Control Handle in the direction of the red arrow.

3. Push out the door until it latches onto the fuselage.

717 - FWD doors - CLOSE in NORMAL

1. Squeeze Latch Open Release Handle to release door from the A/C.

2. Pull door inward using the Assist Handle.

3. Rotate Door Control Handle in the opposite direction of the red arrow to lock & secure the door.

717 - To ARM Tailcone

1. Disengage secondary latch & lower center J/S headrest pad. Exposing the emergency door control handle with red plastic cover. 

2. Verify.

3. FA2 visually crosschecks own door.

717 - To DISARM Tailcone

1. Raise center J/S headrest pad, exposing the normal door control handle, & engage secondary latch.

2. Verify.

3. FA2 visually crosschecks own door.

717 - Tailcone Preflight

1. Appropriate lighted signs & placards are present & in good repair.

2. Tailcone decal is not punctured or torn.

3. AFT barrier strap is present & recessed.

4. Door is visually DISARMED.

717 - Tailcone Backup Procedure

1. Pull the Tailcone Jettison Handle to the right of the slide when facing AFT, about two feet above the ground.

2. Get into protect position A/C R & stomp twice on the tailcone separation with one foot.

3. Pull the red release handle front of the slide container & roll out slide.

4. Pull red manual inflation handle.

5. IF TAILCONE CANNOT BE USED

   1. Return to AFT Exit Door door, DISARM, lock & secure using normal door control handle, install AFT barrier strap, & redirect PAX.

717 - Tailcone OPEN in NORMAL

1. Rotate the Door Control Handle in the direction of the red arrow.

2. Pull the door inward & latch with the Hold Open Latch.

717 - Tailcone CLOSE in NORMAL

1. Release the door from the Hold Open Latch.

2. Close the door. 

3. Rotate the Door Control Handle in the opposite direction of the red arrow to lock & secure the door.

717 - OWE Operation

1. Assess.

2. Facing AFT, pull the handle with one hand & handhold with the other hand.

3. Lift the window & allow it to fall inward onto shoulder. 

4. Turn & throw the window out of the A/C opening. 

5. Instruct PAX to step out leg body leg & to stay close to the body of the A/C. Then, slide off the wing toward the back of the A/C.

717 - FD Clear View Window

1. Pull black ball handle AFT to disengage lock.

2. Pull black ball handle inboard.

3. Pull black ball handle AFT & slide window open.

717 - Escape Rope

1. Open escape rope cover plate. 

2. Pull escape rope out of compartment & lower out window (color change will show when rope is fully extended).

3. Secure rope around one hand to prevent injury during evacuation.

4. Climb out of window head & shoulders first.

5. Lower body using a hand over hand motion.

717 - FA2 Circle Check

1. LAV is unoccupied.

2. Door is ARMED.

3. Galley is secure.

4. AFT barrier strap is attached.

   1. ARMING lever is in the DISARMED position. 

   2. Safety pin is engaged.

1. Verify door is DISARMED (2-point check).

2. Make sure Cabin Pressure Indicator Light is not flashing red.

3. Hold onto Frame Assist Handle.

4. Rotate Door Control Handle fully up.

   2 & 3 L/R: Open door control handle cover.

5. Push door out using the Door Assist Handle until it locks against the fuselage.

A321 - Close in NORMAL

1. Hold onto the Frame Assist Handle.

2. Press the Door Latch Release Button.

3. Pull door inward using the Door Assist Handle.

4. Rotate Door Control Handle down to lock & secure the door.
