What is an Independent Variable (IV)?
The variable that is changed or manipulated by the researcher in an experiment; it's the presumed cause.
What is a Dependent Variable (DV)?
The variable that is measured or observed in an experiment; it's the presumed effect, and its value depends on the independent variable.
What are Control Variables (CVs)?
Variables that are kept constant throughout an experiment to ensure that only the independent variable is affecting the dependent variable.
What is the relationship between the Independent Variable and the Dependent Variable?
The independent variable is manipulated to see its effect on the dependent variable, which is measured in response.
