A genre that criticizes and pokes fun at authority figures by typically using comedy.
Mystery
A genre that consists of a mystery, typically a murder or puzzle.
Horror
A genre with the purpose to create suspense and fear within the audience.
Comedy
A genre with the purpose to entertain or amuse the audience through humor.
Folktale/Fairy tale
A genre consisting of fictional stories told verbally.
War Fiction
A genre that explores themes related to war.
Graphic Novel
A story depicted through panels and pictures.
Tragedy
A genre where a protagonist faces significant challenges that evoke emotion within the audience.
Sci-Fi
Science fiction where technology is advanced beyond current reality.
Magical Realism
A genre where magical elements are treated as the norm in the story.
Realistic Fiction
A genre that consists of a story that doesn’t but can exist in the real world without seeming out of place.
Fan Fiction
A genre of work that is created by fans of existing work.

A genre where an author is telling the story of their own life.
Biography
A genre where an author is describing a story of another individual’s life.

A genre focusing on a character’s development from youth to adulthood or ignorance to informed.
