What are the planes of the brain?
sagittal, coronal, transverse

How does the sagittal plane divide the brain?
Into left and right portions
How does the coronal plane divide the brain?
Into front (anterior) and back (posterior) portions
How does the transverse plane divide the brain?
Into upper (superior) and lower (inferior) portions
How would you describe the sagittal plane to a patient?
Imagine a line splitting your body into a left half and right half.
What is the difference between rostral and caudal?
Rostral refers to the front or head end, while caudal refers to the back or tail end.
Define dorsal versus ventral.
Dorsal refers to the top part, ventral refers to the bottom part.
Where is the precentral gyrus in relation to the to the frontal lobe?
In the caudal portion of the frontal lobe.
Where is the frontal lobe located?
At the front (anterior) portion of the brain

Which lobe processes sensory information?
The parietal lobe in the primary somatosensory cortex
Where is the parietal lobe located?
Behind the frontal lobe, above the temporal lobe

Where is the temporal lobe located?
On the sides of the brain, below the frontal and parietal lobes

Where is the occipital lobe located?
At the back of the brain (posterior)

Where is the primary motor cortex located?
In the precentral gyrus of the frontal lobe

Which brain region is key in cognition and decision making?
The prefrontal cortex
Where does auditory information get processed?
In the temporal lobe, in the primary auditory cortex
Which artery supplies blood to the frontal lobe?
The anterior cerebral artery (ACA)
What are the major arteries that supply the brain with blood?
Interior left and right carotid arteries (enter the brain from the front of the neck)
Vertebral left and right arteries (enter the brain from the back of the neck)
They connect at the circle of Willis
What are the main parts of a neuron?
Dendrites
Cell body (soma)
Axon
Myelin sheath
Axon terminals
Synpase

What part of the brain plans movements?
The premotor cortex in the frontal lobe
