Cell Theory

All living things are made of cells. Cells are the basic unit of structure and function. All cells come from existing cells.

Plant Cells

Have a cell wall, chloroplasts, and a large central vacuole.

Animal Cells

Have centrioles and small vacuoles.

Nucleus

Controles activities, holds DNA.

Mitochondria

Produces energy (ATP) through cellular respiration.

Ribosomes

Build proteins.

Golgi Apparatus

Packages and ships proteins.

Endoplasmic Reticulum

 Transports materials

Cytoplasm

Gel-like substance where organelles are found.

Cell Membrane

Controls what enters and exits the cell.

Cell Wall

Rigid outer layer on a plant cell that gives it structure and support. 

Vacuole:

Vesicle that stores water, salts, carbohydrates, and proteins.—Vacuole in Plant Cells - larger organelle than in animal cells = more water storage and provides more structural support.
